These paintings are less images of flowers and more images of the dust they leave behind. If a flower had a spoor, that’s what I’m trying to paint. Abstraction is a way to sniff out clues about the natural world, to tip up the veil, or as Annie Dillard says: to reach blindly at it’s hem.
